FREE November 2001

FAMILY The kid's Mom has had enough and sent Walter packing back to California (about time!). A divorce is in the works. TRAVEL Ang and Dean took a trip to Leavenworth, WA over the long Thanksgiving weekend. We almost didn't go because of an early snowstorm up in the mountains but we made it through the pass without any problems. SITE NEWS Not that you'd notice, but the website is now running on a different computer. I installed the new DSL modem in the computer which I had recently loaded Windows XP on. Our other computer is still running Windows 2000. Moving the website to the new computer was simply a matter of copying the files. Both versions of Windows come with a web server built into the operating system. My main reason for doing this was for security reasons. Now our main PC with all our financial info, etc. is hidden from the internet. It can still get out to the internet by going through the XP PC (which acts as a firewall) but nothing from outside can reach it directly. So far XP seems to run pretty smooth. It takes a while to get used to everything being in a different place but it's not too different from Win2000. The "wizards" are annoying and Ang hates the new start menu.

EVENTS Thanksgiving All the kids had Thanksgiving Dinner with their Mom this year. Ang and I ate at Jack n' the Box while enroute to Leavenworth. Later that evening we had a traditional German meal while being serenaded by live accordion music. HEALTH UPDATE Everyone is well at the moment. Dean had a nasty bout of stomach flu but is fine now. The pregnancy has gone exceptionally well so far but as the baby approaches term, Ang is really beginning to feel it in her lower back. Only 30+ days to go!
