FAMILY

This has been a banner month for hospitals across the nation as Jackson, Angela, Joe, Susan, Grandma Zenobia and Angie have all spent time in their care.

TRAVEL

Angela's Dad and Sister flew in from Georgia on January 8th to visit and meet the baby. They, along with her Mom flew back home on the 16th.

As mentioned in an earlier column, this allows us to tie a Domain Name to our ever changing IP Address. It's a free service that requires that you install a small program that sends address updates to their server.
I was using a program that modified our main webpage, my page and the webcam page then uploaded them all to the qwest server. Every link on those pages sent the surfer to the address of our server at home. The system worked but it meant maintaining two sets of webpages. Now when you go to the address above, you are going directly to our PC, there's no intermediary stops.

Video Clips
I created several videos of the baby this month. I tried to strike a balance between image quality and file size. However, no matter what the size, you can't just click on them to watch them. You must download the files to your hardrive first, then play the saved file using the Windows Media Player.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has a problem downloading or viewing the videos.

HEALTH UPDATE

Angela went into labor around noon on January 2nd. Her contractions were 5 minutes apart for hours. Since she wasn't in real bad pain the hospital suggested that she wait it out longer at home. The three of us, her Mom included, went to bed fully dressed so we could just jump up and go when she gave the word. By 2:15 am we were on our way to the hospital. Angela was taken to her room and hooked up to the monitors. Jackson's heart rate kept dropping during contractions which caused concern. So they called the doctor for an emergency cesarean. Dean was allowed to go in for the birth. Only one coach was allowed so her Mom had to wait in the room. He was delivered at 4:43 am on January 3rd. Jackson tried to come into this world face first instead of head first. His poor little face was pressing on Angela's pelvis so he was quite swollen. Most of the swelling went down by that evening.

Angela and Jackson are doing well together. He is healthy and gaining weight. Angela was given a clean bill of health after her 3 week check up.
